Discussion

Laurie asks that the minutes specify which months minutes are being considered for approval.  Dec 8 minutes should reflect that Sept and Oct. minutes were approved.

Michelle has continued to work on TEAS reading cut scores analysis. She is seeing the biggest correlation for success with reading scores.  Composite cut scores currently is 52%, with a70% reading score, Michelle distributed a table with a detailed analysis of scores and asks for a second look at the decision made to raise the reading cut score to 70%. Pros and Cons were discussed.

Michelle has offered to help with Level 1 success labs. Wendy suggests success labs for Level 2 to help students get prepared for the predictor and NCLEX. Sharon suggests 4 one hour classes on test taking skills. Michelle will also be on the assessment committee, teach pharmacology and work on ACEN accreditation.

Amy distributed HLC questions to prepare us for the site visitors next October.

In the past making sure student immunizations and other admission criteria were met has been a problem. This year

students were checked in at orientation and deficiencies recorded on the white board as a reminder. This has worked so far.

Laurie has asked the representative to speak with us.

Amy needs to meet the students

Amy wants to observe our classes and schedule a meeting with each of us to get to know us better.

Amy needs to know faculty’s committee assignments.

Amy reminded us that we must submit our syllabi

Amy wants faculty to be available to students for advising for 9-12 on Fridays.

Assessment schedule is on the website

If students are not receiving financial aid they can contact Billie Hornbeck about help for books

Discusses how line items and salaries were determined

          Action

Darcie motioned, Sharon seconded and all in were in favor to approve December 8 minutes.

Michelle will work with the Level 2 students on test-taking skills in addition to her other duties.
